Mr. Holland's Opus (1996)

Synopsis: When we're young our dreams lie out in front of us, there for the taking, and our plans seem so clear. But like many of us, Glenn Holland never could have predicted the course his own life would take, when he reluctantly accepts a job as a teacher. A musician and composer consumed with a love for music, Holland's true goal is to write one memorable piece of music to leave his mark on the world. But instead, he finds his calling in the most unlikely place, sharing his love of music with his students--to let it fill their lives, the way it fills his. His students respond to his contagious passion, and as the years unfold, Holland finds himself on an unplanned path. Redefining success and his own dreams, Holland realizes that his legacy will be greater than he ever dreamed. 留下深刻印像的是这部电影的主题歌，《日落美景》是boys 2 men的一个成员唱的，非常的好听。在电视里看到了mv，然后就拼命的找这部电影的dvd，多年后，终于找到了。是一部好片。

这部温情感人的影片环绕一名音乐家荷兰先生，他真正志愿是作首留芳百世的交响乐，却为生活无可奈何当起高校的音乐老师来，其后更将自己三十多年的青春贡献于培育学生对音乐的兴趣，后来也才惊觉自己成就原来是那么大。他启发并改变了数以百计的学生。荷兰先生受到学生及家人的启示，最终明白到人生并不会常常按照我们的计划而行，而是要求我们接受意料之外的事情。

这是我所见的翻译最为诗意和贴切的片名，三十年代曾有过这样短暂的锦瑟年华，象《魂断蓝桥》，原名是《滑铁庐大桥》，可以说是化腐朽为神奇。

作曲家贺兰，放弃了自己的事业，去中学当了一个音乐教师，动因只是权益之计，挣了钱后就闪，从事自己心爱的作曲事业，但没想到偶然的选择，竟成了终身不变的唯一。

并不是一开始就上路，教了五个月，学生听得呵欠连天，突然意识到了自己的无能，于是变了通，从摇滚乐入手，真正引导学生进入了一片崭新的天地。

于是回想起我们的学生时代，一直渴望有人来发现自己的特长，因材施教，我们没有出生在春秋，没有当孔夫子学生的福气，我们只想平平凡凡拥有一项特长，一项能让我们能微笑回味学生时光的特长，很遗憾，到现在我仍然只限于憧憬。

有很多机会在我们甚至根本来不及获得的时候，就已经失去了。

这就是我看本片感动的原因，贺兰老师，拥有自己的事业，为了发掘出孩子内心世界的渴望，放弃了自己与生俱来的冲动。当那个吹肿了嘴唇也找不准单簧管音的、长了一头晚霞一样长发的小女孩，在贺兰的启发下，闭着眼吹出了想象中的音符，我不知道她吹出这样的音，究竟是克服了多大的困难，但我跟她一起欣喜若狂。

还有那个黑人男孩，一无所长，为了能拿到学分顺利毕业，对节奏一窍不通，居然还会去练打鼓，在乐队练习中，贺兰突然喊停，男孩一脸错愕，老师告诉他，刚才他终于找到了节奏，全场掌声雷动。

那个黑人男孩后来中越战中阵亡，在他的葬礼上，贺兰又使另一个天才少年成熟起来。生生不息，绵绵不断。

无论是聪慧的，还是笨拙的，都有自己合适的位置，生命理应获得尊重，这个意义，贺兰起初并不知道，直到他退休的那一瞬间，他所教过的学生，从四面八方汇集在一起，为他送行的时候，贺兰明白了，他的学生也明白了，所以泪水滂沱的观众也明白了。

贺兰自己的儿子却是一个先天聋哑人，对于这样一个视音乐为生命的父亲，是不是有点残酷？

这部片子没有任何华丽的技巧，也没有艺术或技术上革命性的突破，它手法陈旧，叙述传统，思想保守，所歌颂的也是司空见惯的美好品德，主题是尊师，没有哗众取宠之处，但却如此令我恋恋不舍。

我觉得，它其实讲述了一个亘古的话题，生命的价值，使我在声色犬马中逐渐迷惑的时候，有如醍醐酩顶。
